7 TV Shows That Improved In 2019 (And 3 That Got Worse)

Shows That Improved...

7. YOU

YOU Season 2
Netflix

YOU is something of a rare breed of show in that it not only managed to produce a second season worthy of its first, it successfully recycled its familiar formula to produce even better results.

The second season of the thriller series recently arrived on Netflix following a year of question marks revolving around its own existence, with many of us wondering if it actually needed another offering - especially if it was going to reset the status quo and tell the same story again. However, that right there gave it the chance to do something different.

With another insanely compelling turn from Penn Badgley as the unnerving Joe Goldberg, the series hits familiar beats in completely new ways, as everything from the new LA setting to the thoroughly engaging selection of new characters feels fresh. The story is every bit as well-crafted, but with the added urgency of Joe's not-so-dead ex-girlfriend Candace threatening to expose him, Season 2 is more thrilling than the show has ever been.
