7 TV Shows That Suddenly Dropped Major Plot Threads

5. The Disappearing Daughter - Doctor Who

Doctor Who Jenny

Doctor Who made a huge change to the accepted canon back in 2008, with the introduction of Jenny, the Doctor's Daughter, during the show's fourth season, which was titled after the new, potentially game-changing character.

It was revealed that Jenny (played by Georgia Moffet, who is now married to David Tennant, the Doctor at the time), had been artificially created using DNA taken from the Doctor against his will, and she went on to become something of a fan-favourite across a multi-episode arc. Her story seemingly came to a close when she was fatally shot, taking a bullet meant for her father. That, however, wasn't quite the end of her, as she was brought back to life - only to go off and explore the universe, never to be seen again.

Fans of speculated about a return ever since, and a Big Finish audio series will bring the character back later this year, but in terms of TV the story of Jenny has never properly been resolved.
