Life And Death:

Mirri Maz Durr was a recurring character in the first season of Game of Thrones. She was beaten and raped by Khal Drogo’s riders after her village was raided by the Dothraki’s khalasar, though Daenerys saved her from death after demanding that all the women of Lhazareen be handed over to her for their own protection.

As repayment, Duur offered to use her powers to heal a wound that Khal Drogo sustained during a fight with one of the rapists who challenged his authority. Though his bloodriders counselled otherwise, Drogo allowed the woman to treat him, and in an act of revenge for the many deaths he caused Duur left the khal in a vegetative state. Daenerys burned her alive on Drogo’s funeral pyre.

Why She Was Important:

It was not only Drogo that Duur killed with her dark magic, but his and Dany’s unborn child, too. According to a Dothraki prophecy, baby Rhaego would have grown into the stallion who would mount the world, the great khal of khals and the first leader to unite all of the Dothraki hordes in their conquest of the world.

Had he and his father lived, Daenerys would be an entirely different character. She would have been within reaching distance of the great army she so desperately needs to retake the Iron Throne, but, on the flip side, her dragons - who were born in the great fire that consumed Drogo's dead body - may have never existed. In theory, Dany (and we, the viewers) owe Duur for bringing dragons back to Westeros.
