8 Fan-Service TV Episodes Everyone Hated

5. Heroes - How To Stop An Exploding Man

Heroes is known for its catastrophic downfall into obscurity.

Its first season gained it a fantastic reputation as one of the best shows airing in America at the time, but by the time the third season rolled around the fans were seriously doubting its longevity.

The episode that signalled the beginning of the end was the season 1 finale, How To Stop An Exploding Man. It’s like they thought they were giving fans what they wanted by having a big fight where everyone banded together- but they didn’t account for the fact that poor execution cannot be made up for with good intentions.

Fans were excited to see a comic book battle with explosions and stunts and blockbuster special effects! Unfortunately the show didn’t have the budget nor the apparent writing ability to pull something like that off, and because of this we were given one of the most disappointing episodes in recent history. There was a bit of a scuffle by a water-feature and two characters that fans weren’t particularly wild about die. Anticlimactic, right?

It carried on along this trajectory until the show was eventually cancelled. Everything the first season had promised, the following seasons managed to underdeliver and it was made increasingly clear that the format just wasn’t going to work.
