8 Insane Gritty Reboots That Would Improve Classic TV Shows

2. Laverne & Shirley

Laverneandshirley Laverne De Fazio and Shirley Feeney were just two put-upon working class girls working ridiculous shifts in Milwaukee's Shotz brewery. Putting caps on bottles was a mind numbingly boring task and one that came with paltry rewards. To top off the terrible conditions, maddening repetition and general existential angst the girls also had to endure daily harassment of a sexual nature from their slimy boss Mr Shotz. The local brewing magnate was also a powerful figure in the local chamber of commerce and a notorious union smasher. It seemed that resistance was futile. But one day Laverne and Shirley's lives changed forever as they discovered the truth behind their upstairs neighbours Lenny and Squiggy. Those guys had always seemed pretty far out €“ for one thing, they insisted that all communication be based upon shouting up a dumb waiter shaft. They always seemed to be full of unusual questions for a couple of seemingly unemployed greasers. Then one day Lenny's voice came thundering down the shaft. "We want to talk to you about Mr Shotz..." The two men had been watching Shotz brewery for some time, for they were both members of an underground cell of anarcho-syndicalist revolutionaries hell-bent on making an example of local capitalist exploiters. With their knock-about sense of humour the two radicals gently teach Laverne and Shirley that united, the only thing they have to lose is their chains. Join in the fun as Milwaukee's finest daughters plot to seize the means of production and smash the state, with hilarious results.
