8 Most Puzzling Moments In The Obi-Wan Kenobi Premiere
3. Hi, Grand Inquisitor! Bye, Grand Inquisitor!
The teaser trailers for Obi-Wan set up Rupert Friend's Grand Inquisitor as a major player in the story, and his appearances in the first two episodes bore that impression out.
Right up until Reva gutted him at the end of episode two.
Safe to say, not many people saw that coming. For one, if this is the last we've seen of the Grand Inquisitor, it's a complete waste of what promised to be a great character. Rupert Friend did a great job portraying the leader of the Inquisitors with the appropriate level of arrogance and menace, and he and his character deserve better than to end up as a Sith kebab.
Also, and more importantly, the Grand Inquisitor can't canonically die yet. As anyone who's seen the excellent Star Wars Rebels will tell you, the ashen-hued Inquisitor needs to live long enough to menace Ezra Bridger and his band of renegades. Taking him out now would be massively disruptive to Star Wars canon, so we can only assume he somehow survives Reva's attack.
However, as we'll see in the final two entries, this isn't the only time Obi-Wan Kenobi plays fast and loose with Star Wars' lore...
