8 Popular TV Characters Who Originated On A Different Show

8. Sabrina Spellman (Sabrina, The Teenage Witch)

1st Appearance: The Archie Comedy Hour (1969) The character of Sabrina Spellman was brought back into the television landscape when Melissa Joan Hart played her on the highly popular sitcom, Sabrina, The Teenage Witch. But viewers of the magical teen-comedy were likely far too young to realize that, not only was the live-action TV series not an original concept, but Sabrina didn't even originate as a flesh-and-blood witch. The famous witch actually began her life as a one-shot character in Archie Comics. Due to popular demand, Sabrina Spellman became a recurring character in the comics and later found her way into The Archie Comedy Hour, a Saturday morning cartoon. Eventually, she was given her own spin-off animated series in 1970, a full 26 years before Joan Hart repopularized the character in real human form.
