8 Reasons Batman Belongs On Television
7. He Needs Hard Cases To Solve
For being the World's Greatest Detective, Batman hasn't done a whole lot of detecting in recent films. There's that whole thing in The Dark Knight where he does some sort of ballistics test to get a fingerprint somehow? Sure, whatever. In Batman Returns, which is otherwise excellent, he can't even figure out that his new girlfriend is Catwoman. And in Batman & Robin, no criticism, because Batman & Robin is a perfect movie and is above scrutiny.
On TV, Batman would have the time to really dig into tough case every week, or even explore a single case over the course of an entire season the way shows like True Detective do. He could be a modern-day Sherlock Holmes, taking on cases that the cops can't crack. He can use his mind and his technology and his car that has a jet engine to do what the cops can't do, or go where the cops can't go. Because Batman doesn't need a warrant to wait for criminals in a shadowy corner of their apartment.
A TV show would give Batman the opportunity to solve genuine mysteries, with clues and red herrings and an ending that nobody sees coming. Except Batman. Batman sees it coming.
