8 Reasons You Should Be Watching Netflix's Sense8

6. The Social Activism

There is definitely a message behind many of the choices made in the making of this show: it is a message of acceptance and open-mindedness.

The only true villains in the show are the intolerant and the close-minded who do not accept the choices of the main characters. There are full moments given over to delivering certain social messages, usually through the character of Nomi. Her pride speech scene in episode two has bounced its way across the internet as a moment that spoke to a significant number of fans (and even beyond the limits of the show's fandom.)

The show does not rise to the level of being preachy about its morals but it does present its opinions in some powerful ways. There is an emotional scene in the first episode talking about the stigma that HIV/AIDS once held or still holds in many parts of the world. The social conscience behind the show might push a few buttons and stretch the comfort zone for some audience members, but that is clearly okay with its creators.

If all of that doesn't sound like it's a show for you then it probably isn't but the Wachowskis aren't known for taking half measures. The social activism in Sense8 might be another divisive choice for them.
