B*tch are you serious?

The entire tipping point of our story comes when Jon reveals the truth of his parentage to Dany. Then again when she begs him not to tell anyone. Then again when he rejects her love and she realises all she will ever have is fear. When all’s said and done we’ll look back on those three scenes as being the defining moments in A Song of Ice and Fire and, lo and behold, all in dark rooms, all in Season 8.

There’s also Varys and Tyrion discussing Dany’s flaws and how Jon might in actual fact be the better candidate to rule the Seven Kingdoms. This is a quintessential distillation of everything that’s made this show great. It’s all about the turning of the wheel, and the scheming requited to do it, while defining the motivations behind everyone in the conversation.

From there Varys signs his own death-warrant, Tyrion is pushed to the absolute limits of his loyalty and Dany takes another huge step towards the isolation that alters who she is. All in dark rooms, all in Season 8.
