The Episode: I know what you're thinking: what on earth could merit the banning of Peppa Pig, arguably one of the most innocent and least offensive TV shows on the planet? The episode in question is titled Mister Skinnylegs, and is the 47th episode of season one. In the episode, Peppa's brother George encounters a spider and attempts to befriend it. Despite Peppa being afraid of it, her father assures her that it can't hurt her. The overarching message of the episode is that spiders – though some people are naturally frightened by them – are totally harmless.

Why It Was Banned: Oddly enough, this one actually sort of makes sense. Firstly you've got to understand that Peppa Pig – which is an animated show aimed at preschoolers – was created in Britain. This is important because its view of the world – specifically wildlife – comes from a slightly different perspective.

Unfortunately for Peppa Pig, it's not wise to befriend arachnids everywhere in the world. In Australia – known for its horrifyingly large spiders – broadcaster ABC feared that the episode might encourage children to interact with deadly arachnids, and so the episode was banned from ever airing.
