8 TV Episodes That Were Banned For Insane Reasons
5. The X-Files – Home
The Episode: I know what you're probably thinking – The X-Files is filled with totally weird and creepy material, what on earth could be so weird and creepy as to merit being banned? Well, you're about to find out. In 1996 the second episode of the fourth season titled Home was pulled from Fox after airing just once. Unusually for the series, the episode even came with a viewer discretionary warning, telling of extremely graphic content.
The plot of the episode focuses on a woman who gives birth to a malformed child. At the beginning this child is buried alive by three men, and its corpse is later found by kids playing outside. Detectives Mulder and Scully investigate the murder, discovering the baby is the result of incest. By the end of the episode it's revealed that the three men have been breading with their quadruple amputee mother for years, and the mother and one of her sons even escape from criminal justice, free to breed once more.
Why It Was Banned: Even for an episode of The X-Files, the plot is extremely messed up, dealing head on with the topic of incest. It's not so much the violence in the episode that's disturbing, it's the very nature of the story.
