8 TV Shows That Are Going To Get Cancelled In 2016

7. The Muppets

Agent Carter cancelled
ABC

It all sounded so promising. Placing The Muppets in a “The Office” like setting and letting the humour and emotions run wild. A show like The Office manages to be both goofy and sentimental, which you'd think would be a perfect mix for The Muppets.

Sadly, you'd be wrong – though most of the blame lies squarely with the writers. The first half of the first season was bizarrely dark. Rather than attempting to capture the joyous spirit that accompanies Jim Henson's colourful creations, we witnessed Kermit the Frog describe life as a “bacon wrapped hell on earth.” From the offset there was just something tonally wrong about the whole thing.

Two thirds of the way through the season, however, the show was put on a brief hiatus, and the showrunner Bob Kushell was booted out and replaced by Kristin Newman in what was clearly a last ditch attempt to save the show. At this point it's practically a certainty that failed – the show returned with a string of series-low ratings, and there's been no word from ABC since March.
