While The Simpsons is about to enter its record-breaking 30th season, Matt Groening's second sitcom hasn't had it so easy. Originally airing on Fox alongside its sibling show, the series was let go by the network back in 2003.

Adult Swim, however, aired reruns of the show which revived interest, and starting in 2007 four straight-to-DVD movies were produced. Comedy Central then purchased these and split them into 16 half-hour episodes, effectively making a fifth season out of them, and then picking it up for another two seasons after that.

The show ended again in 2013 after Season 7, but even that wasn't the last we'd see of it, as over a year later there was an official Simpsons/Futurama crossover episode on Fox, and last year an audio-only instalment - featuring the original voice cast - aired on The Nerdist Podcast.
