8. Archer
As an animated show, the Archer creators can do pretty much whatever they want to do anyway. It is a joke heavy, supremely goofy and raunchy cartoon that has done all sorts of ridiculous storylines. However, for a few seasons, those storylines all took place within the world of spies and espionage at the fictional ISIS, where the titular Sterling Archer and his cohorts worked. Then, when season five rolled around, Archer decided to throw a major curveball. In short, Archer became Archer Vice. That is to say, ISIS was disbanded and Archer and friends decided to become coke dealers.
Really. The show about idiotic spies became a show about idiotic coke dealers. It was a bold move, but also completely reasonable within the world of the show. It wasnt a long term move, but for one year, Archer fans got to see these characters in a very different context.
