Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has always been restricted in its storytelling by the fact that it is at the bottom of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's list of priorities. The show was at its most thrilling when it tied in with Captain America: The Winter Soldier but that good work was undercut when Avengers: Age Of Ultron completely failed to acknowledge its existence. Rather than making Quicksilver and the Scarlett Witch Inhumans, the filmmakers chose to describe them as "enhanced". This was a wasted opportunity to tie the show's mythology more closely to that of the hugely popular films. There is an Inhumans movie scheduled for release in 2019 and if Agents wants to keep its Inhumans plot relevant, it needs to be genuinely connected to that film.
