5. Tyrion Lannister

Alcoholic

It might not surprise you to learn that the self-proclaimed God of T*ts and Wine is probably an alcoholic (shocker, right?)

Whilst probably slightly more mentally robust than his siblings (who, incidentally, also like a drink), Tyrion's reliance on booze to get him through his, admittedly harrowing, day-to-day existence might put in amongst the 140 million people on Earth with alcohol dependency (figures for Westeros are hard to get hold of).

His trouble with addiction, and tendency to hit the bottle at breakfast, may stem from low self-esteem and a lack of control in his own fate. Tyrion considers his mind to be above average, but has no confidence in his physical appearance or abilities. This coupled with the sense of inadequacy, redundancy and even revulsion in the eyes of his own family is enough to drive anyone to drink.

Likeable as he is, this is one guy desperately in need of a 12-step programme.
