As said in the last entry, many tv shows have, as of very recently, been condemned and criticised by audiences for their complete lack of consideration of POC when presenting offensive racial stereotypes on their shows.

For some reason up until shockingly recent, comedians and comedy tv shows alike thought it was hilarious to paint their faces dark and pretend to be Black. "Blackface" has, since its inception, been an offensive and oppressive way to ridicule Black people. It has never, ever, held an innocent motivation; no matter what comedians say when excusing their behaviour.

But while we usually see people doing "blackface" during live-action movies or shows, this entry occurred in a cartoon, a children's cartoon to be exact. Pokemon is a Japanese anime series that, due to its popularity, was dubbed and shown all over the world. For English speaking countries, the studio 4Kids Production did all the dubbing.

When the episode premiered in Japan, African-American fans of the show caught wind of a new pokemon named Jynx that looked to be based on various racial stereotypes. So 4Kids Production refused to dub the episode, and so it never made it to air outside never shown outside of Asia.

Where Can I Find It: Clips of the episode can be found online.

Lily thought it was about time she wrote Top Ten lists for people other than herself. She also owes her dog a lot of money so she thought it was about time to pay her dues. There is no tv show she likes that she hasn't seen at least twice.
