Perhaps one of the most popular personality switches on this list, Stewie Griffin’s sudden shift in Family Guy was so jarring that it practically split him off into two distinct characters.

The earlier seasons championed his quest for world domination and innate desire to kill Lois, with that pretty much being his entire reason to exist. That sharp, black-humour edge instantly made him the face of the entire show, the breakout character that skyrocketed Family Guy to ridiculous success. Or, at the very least, launched a million school-ground impressions.

Admittedly, those defining characteristics would have been difficult to keep interesting for so many years without Stewie becoming grating and one-note.
