8. Charmed - Prue Halliwell

Charmed started out telling the story of The Charmed Three, a trio of sisters who were regarded as the most powerful 'good' witches of all time: Prue, Piper, and Phoebe Halliwell, played by Shannen Doherty, Holly Marie Combs, and Alyssa Milano respectively.

The show earned decent reviews and a cult following over its first few years, but behind-the-scenes issues meant a huge shift had to happened. Doherty was no stranger to on-set issues, having reportedly been fired from Beverly Hills 90210, and this time the actress supposedly had a feud with co-star Milano that led to the latter issuing an ultimatum.

Prue was killed off, but the show would continue for more seasons without her than it had with her. Rose McGowan's Paige Matthews filled the void left by Prue and, although it didn't quite reach the same heights (especially in the last couple of years) it still produced some great episodes and didn't lose too many viewers either.
