9 Ups & 1 Down From Star Trek: Lower Decks 5.5 — Starbase 80?!

6. UP — Chad’s Fusion Cuisine

You can say goodbye to goodbye to scarcity on Starbase 80, but who needs replicators, or even food synthesisers, when you've got Chad! He'll whip out the corn dogs — which he probably cooked inside the fusion reactor — faster than a ravenous Wolverine. He might have dropped the odd one on the floor, and squirted the ketchup every which way, but in his almost-red shirt, he certainly wasn't afraid to run into danger.

Let's face it, come the zombiepocalypse, we'll all be relying on the Chads of this world to fearlessly leap into the hordes of undead with a battle cry worthy of a hungry Klingon (i.e. a Klingon). Fortunately for this particular food vendor, the anaphasically possessed crew of the Cerritos didn't have a taste for anything not deep-fried.

Funnily enough, there is precedent for corn dogs in Star Trek. On Earth in 1996, Captain Janeway and Commander Chakotay found Captain Braxton rummaging through the bin in front of Santa Monica's famous Hot Dog on a Stick stand. Chad could even be the descendent of Dave (Barham) who opened it in 1946. "Corn dogs, ho!"
