The first Koenig sibling we ever met was Eric all the way back in first season, and following his death at the hands of Grant Ward, we then met his twin brothers Sam and Billy, both of whom made a handful of appearances in season two before vanishing.

Fortunately, they returned for an episode of season four - along with another brother, Thurston, and a sister, LT - where they were being hunted by the Watchdogs for knowing the whereabouts of the Darkhold.

Since then, they've been MIA, sitting out the rest of the fourth season and all of the fifth, and considering their fan-favorite status, it's a disappointing absence.

Actor Patton Oswalt has always been a welcome presence on the show in all of his Koenig incarnations, and it just wouldn't feel right to go another season without seeing him.

With everything the team has gone through of late, from being trapped in the Framework to being sent to the future to dealing with Graviton and the Confederacy, S.H.I.E.L.D.'s status as an organization has been put in a strange place, and if the team works to reestablish its legitimacy once again in a post-Avengers 4 world next year, the Koenigs would be great allies to have in ensuring everyone remembers to carry their official lanyards.
