3. Introducing: Psychics
One of the key witnesses in Avery's trial, a woman named Maya, is a medium and a psychic ("on a good day I'm a petite psychic!"), who claims to have the ability to speak with the dead, and does so in order to help Kennex and Dorian identify the other witness' killer. It's the first time a more supernatural, mystical element has been introduced in the series (though, to be fair, it's given a scientific explanation I'll get to in a minute), and immediately shows that perhaps the future of the show won't necessarily be limited to what humans can accomplish with technology.
