Almost Human: 5 New Technologies And Developments In 'Blood Brothers'

1. Dorian: A Day In The Life

Dorian The episode opens with Kennex waiting at the station for Dorian to begin the day; but when Dorian fails to show up on time Kennex takes the elevator down to the android locker room and makes an unexpected, and hilarious, discovery. Kendoll As it turns out, the MX androids are "walking Ken dolls," devoid of genitalia. Kennex describes the sight as something he can't unsee, prompting a similar reaction from Dorian. "I have no privacy, and they glare at me with their lifeless eyes." What follows is an awkward but funny scene in which Kennex asks Dorian about his own genitalia, which Dorian shows him after explaining that his creator was "more thoughtful" when designing him. The scene accomplishes a number of things. On one side, it gives us another great beat with the two charismatic leads that pretty much proves that the best moments of the show are when the two are driving to a crime scene. On another note, it gives us a little insight into Dorian's private life, which had gone completely unexplored until now. Dorian asks Kennex to request to Capt. Maldonado that the android be given his own place. It's unfortunate that he has to spend his days in a locker room full of emotionless toasters walking around proudly displaying their naked robotic bodies. Dorian is, beneath his artificial surface, more human than the MX models, and values things like privacy. Fans of Karl Urban and Michael Ealy are no doubt hoping the two will end up sharing an apartment, giving audiences a futuristic Odd Couple dynamic to the show that would actually be pretty great. So, the final verdict on the episode is that it's another great time in the universe that's been created and one of the best episodes to date. However, despite its fair share of great character moments and exciting story beats, it is still lacking a sense of completeness and serialized storytelling to tie the whole show together. Whether or not future episodes will remedy this remains to be seen, but as long as the show retains the amount of high quality entertainment that's been displayed so far, you can bet that audiences will be tuning in to find out. Almost Human airs on Monday nights on FOX at 8pm.
