Amazon's Lord Of The Rings: Fan-Casting Every (Possible) Major Role
7. Gimli - Jason Momoa
The commanding presence of Aquaman's Jason Momoa would only heighten the appeal of the stout and sarcastic Gimli. A fantasy show veteran, Momoa could be an experienced asset if Amazon seeks to illustrate the intriguing and entertaining world of Gimli's dwarf kingdom.
Momoa's former parts display why he'd be the prime candidate to showcase Gimli's inherent pride. In the film Conan the Barbarian, Momoa brandishes swords as the protagonist with an axe to grind, seeking vengeance for his slaughtered family. Film trilogy fans will remember Gimli's poignant reaction when he enters the Mines of Moria only to discover that many of his kinsmen were killed by Sauron's followers. Momoa should have no trouble conjuring up the emotions necessary for Gimli's early days as a warrior, especially if the prequel addresses the fact that Gimli grew up during a harrowing time for dwarves.
With notable roles in Stargate: Atlantis and Game of Thrones, Momoa's resume should put him on the shortlist for the new Gimli. Khal Drago earned Momoa several awards nominations even though he was on Thrones for just ten episodes. While wielding weapons and spouting memorable lines, Momoa's carved himself a place in the television industry.
He's on the verge of superstardom, nearing the pinnacle of his career. His appearances in Batman v Superman and Justice League only solidify the cinematic presence he'd bring to a series that will be constantly compared to the movies.
Axe user Gimli deserves a talented and tested thespian, and Momoa more than makes the cut.
