By a clear mile, the most original and entertaining character in American Dad! is the Smith family's resident alien, Roger. Originally housebound and depressed, the former Area 51 captive eventually began to venture out into Langley Falls under the guise of various wigs and human clothing.
Over time, however, these disguises became full-blown personas, each with their own backstories, personalities, and even actual families!
Many episodes have explored just how Roger manages to live all of these separate lives simultaneously - and, to confuse us further, the psychopathic alien never gives us a proper explanation. Still, these characters grow in number at an unbelievable rate, making for some truly hilarious appearances from show-stealing series icons.
The question is: have you been keeping track of them all?
With a seemingly endless closet, a full-blown costume factory and, later, a tumour-turned-homunculus to share his workload, Roger's personas are among American Dad!'s most distinctive themes, and it's inevitable that most of them will stick in your memory more than virtually the entire rest of the cast.
