American Horror Story: Apocalypse - 5 Ups & 1 Down From 'The Morning After'

2. Gallant's Character Development

American Horror Story Apocalypse

Evan Peters has played a variety of kooky characters on American Horror Story, and Gallant is shaping up to be one of his best - which is pretty ironic given how one dimensional the character seemed after last week's episode. The Morning After fleshes him out (in more ways that one), and gives us an insight into his troubled relationship with his grandmother Evie. This subplot not only strengthened our connection to the character, but it also gave him a goal of sorts. He'll stop at nothing to get what he's always wanted: acceptance. If his grandmother couldn't give it to him, then maybe the people of this brave new world - and Michael Langdon - will.

We're only two episodes in and Peters is already demonstrating why he's one of the strongest actors in the show. His characterisation of Gallant is so on the money - between the mannerisms and the way he talks, he has truly nailed this one. In fact, he's so good here, that it's easy to forget we're watching the same actor who portrayed political psychopath Kai Anderson and serial killer James Patrick March.
