American Horror Story: Coven - 12 Most WTF Moments

1. Madame LaLaurie's Attic

The Slave Trade (along with the witch trials) are probably the most poignant and mortifying events to ever have happened to the history of the world. Is it unimaginable to think that someone could buy, sell and own another person all because they have a different skin colour. Being black meant that you were worthless and you were doomed from birth, destined to care for and work for others until the day you died, whether that death came naturally or not. Madame LaLaurie, although extreme, represents every white person that ever owned a black slave during this time. Her racist attitude and incredulous sense of entitlement is simply baffling, all because she has money and lighter skin. She believes that she is superior to her slaves and she displays this heinous attitude with physical beatings which occur in her attic of horrors. Her attic is essentially a torture chamber where slaves are mercilessly tortured, abused and murdered and she gains such pleasure from it all. But their pain doesn't end when they're dead, as she uses their blood as a facial in her attempts to remain youthful and beautiful. The scenes in her attic are beyond barbaric and it's sad that events similar to these actually happened, all at the hands of our ancestors.
