Madame LaLaurie's blood rituals are driven by her insecurities and the indiscretions of her husband whom has broken her down into a woman obsessed with her youth and vitality. She covers her skin in the blood of her slaves in a superstitious attempt to regain her youth, but she doesn't just stop at using their blood. The secret ingredient is the pancreas, which she also takes from her slaves after she's mutilated their bodies for her sadistic pleasure. Watching someone rub blood on their face isn't the worst thing in the world you could watch, but when you see how she obtains it, it's enough to make you shudder. Even human life is a commodity to the wealthy.
