4. The Carnival

Ryan Murphy has confirmed that the show will be set in Jupiter, Florida in one of the last operating freak shows in the United States. This is a setting harking back to a combination of the Asylum setting of season two, mixed with a little of the Murder House from season one. So much like in Carnivàle, a number of actors with unusual and perhaps unsightly disfigurements will appear. Considering the very dark nature of the series, these are likely to be both greater in number and quality than Carnivàle. While the that series stopped short at a bearded lady, Murphy's team will have heavily researched the history of freak shows across the United States and will be seeking to replicate some of their favourites. It has also been reported that much like Coven; Freak Show will feature scenes from another time period €“ but it hasn't been revealed what the time period will be yet. Murphy's team has already revealed the background to Lange's character, and so you can expect that Freak Show will have flashbacks to concentration camps in Nazi Germany... Josef Mengele himself may yet appear in the show with his collection of freaks.
