2. The Cast

One of the quirks of American Horror Stories' season long stories is that they tend to have a rolling ensemble cast which only slightly changes every year. Naturally, there have been a few staples, such as the wonderful Jessica Lange or the marvellously talented (and occasionally very creepy) Jamie Brewer. Asylum and Coven have both introduced some new blood into the mix which have since been kept in the ongoing cast, such as Sarah Paulson and most recently Angela Bassett and Kathy Bates. The good news is that Paulson, Bassett and Bates are all confirmed to be returning alongside Lange in Freak Show although their roles are yet to be announced. Joining them are two more American Horror Story veterans €“ Evan Peters and Frances Conroy, with the contracts for Denis O'Hare and Emma Roberts still under negotiation. Every year at least one surprising addition to the cast has been announced, and this has not yet been made for Freak Show. Given that the show has attracted some of the best acting talent available, there is some major anticipation regarding a potential casting. Considering that it means sharing screen time with Lange, Bassett and Bates €“ an actor's dream if ever there was one €“ you can expect a surprise courtesy of Ryan Murphy at some point soon.
