American Horror Story: Ranking Every Season Premiere From Worst To Best
6. The End
With Apocalypse having been confirmed as the highly-anticipated crossover between the Murder House and Coven seasons, it's safe to say that viewers had high expectations for the end-of-the-world themed outing prior to its airing.
While The End delivered in many ways, most notably in how it established a core group of new characters - it wasn't anywhere near the type of premiere episode fans had expected. That's not to say it was completely disappointing, because it wasn't, but it was slightly deflating that none of the central Murder House or Coven characters made appearances.
In their absence however, we meet the enigmatic Michael Langdon, whose intensity was enough to suggest that he's not to be messed with, and actor Cody Fern's portrayal of the character was perfect. Much like Checking In, The End is a visual masterpiece, and the dark colours and candlelit scenes really complement the narrative.
Likewise, despite fans' hope of seeing Sarah Paulson reprise her roles of Cordelia Foxx or Billie Dean Howard, the Emmy-winning actress didn't let us down, delivering a chilling performance as the vile authoritarian Wilhemina Venable.
