American Horror Story: Ranking Jessica Lange's Characters From Worst To Best
1. Fiona Goode
She cursed, murdered and smoked her way to the top, but she looked ever so fabulous doing it. Yes, you guessed it. There can only be one supreme, and this honour is bestowed upon Fiona Goode, the supreme witch that Lange portrayed in the Coven season of American Horror Story.
Fiona's desire to remain young was very much a driving force behind Coven, and her lust for power is what ultimately leads to her downfall. The most interesting thing about Fiona - in comparison to all the others - is that she didn't particularly learn anything over the course of the season. She didn't have an epiphany, nor did she end up surrounded by loved ones. In the final episode, she was as narcissistic as she ever was.
It's true, as odd as it sounds, Fiona's strength lay in how unapologetic she was about having lived a disreputable life. She answered to no-one, and of course, paid the price for it. Actions have consequences - something that Fiona was never able to understand.
A combination of strong writing, characterisation, and - of course - Lange's performance, make Fiona Goode the actress' best character on American Horror Story. Was there ever any other choice for the top spot? The answer is no. Fiona is, after all, the Supreme.
