American Horror Story Season 3: 5 Things We're Excited For & 5 Things We Want To See

1. Optimism

ahss3-optimism I know this is a show about horror and truly dark and horrific, frightening things happening to people and about people causing these terrible things to happen to one another. That's why I like the show - it's a wonderful mix of over-the-top camp and villainy, as well as the kind of B-movie horror that just works like no other show on television does. It's dark and allows people to explore the darkness and the shadows of the world and their own mind without leaving the safety of their own living room. However, Murphy's already mentioned that there will be a lighter tone this season to counteract the overwhelming bleakness and darkness of this season - even though the finale gave some peace, the heroes never got a happy ending. Even Lana, the season's heroine and survivor - the ultimate horror final girl - ended the season alive, but having just killed her murderous grown-up son by shooting him in the head. Not exactly a Hallmark moment. Even the first season finale wasn't a joyfest either - with Violet having committed suicide, Vivien and her 'good' twin dying in childbirth and Ben killed by ex-lover Hayden and made to look like a suicide attempt, the Harmon family reunite and resolve their differences, something other ghosts have been unable to do, even bringing loyal maid Moira into their family to help save future tenants of the house. It's certainly cheery in the thematic sense but the cliffhanger with the Antichrist and Constance is a bitter sting in the tail. With Murphy's continuing talk of female strength and power being a strong theme next year, I can't help but hope that maybe when the dust settles, there might be hope and happiness for whoever makes their way out of the season's events. That they can cope and forge a new life for themselves. After all, even madness ends eventually. What are you most excited about for Season Three? Do you want to see Murphy tackle vampires or werewolves next? Or maybe something new? Leave your suggestions below, guys!
