American Vandal Season 2 Review: 7 Ups & 2 Downs
5. The INSANE Production Values
A big part of the reason American Vandal can be so funny is because it actually boasts the production values to match a high-brow "prestige" documentary like Making a Murderer.
The season opens with an hysterical explanation for the high school doc's big-budget visuals, which are again absolutely first-rate here. The eye-popping cinematography, slick titles sequence, abundance of beautifully-shot reconstructions and pin-sharp editing all combine to make this another gorgeously crafted season.
While it's the script and acting that truly elevate the show, the self-consciously overproduced sheen adds an extra layer of glorious meta-satire. Seriously, this thing looks absolutely spectacular in 4K HDR.
