American Vandal Season 2 Review: 7 Ups & 2 Downs

3. The Performances Are Incredible

American Vandal Season 2
Netflix

Season one was an impeccably well-cast affair, boasting a cast of largely unknown actors who were absolutely note-perfect for their roles. And while there's no performance here quite as wonderful as Jimmy Tatro's Dylan Maxwell, the entire ensemble is absolutely marvellous regardless.

Especially terrific are Travis Tope as focal misfit Kevin McClain, Melvin Gregg as charismatic basketball star DeMarcus Tillman and Bryan Cranston's daughter Taylor Dearden as Kevin's estranged friend Chloe Lyman.

Across the board, the performances don't put a foot wrong: everyone seems to be on the same tonal keel, with nobody playing their parts too broad or cartoonish, ensuring the show as a whole doesn't tip its hat to the audience too overtly.
