Angel: Every Main Character Ranked Worst To Best
7. Allen Francis Doyle
It's a testament to the writers and the acting brilliance of Glenn Quinn that Doyle ended up being as good a character as he is. Starring in only nine episodes of the show's debut season, Doyle set Angel on the path that would take up the rest of the show (and the vampire's arc), but he was not simply put in place as a walking piece of exposition.
No, Doyle was something really special. Fully formed right from the get-go, the half-demon was as funny, sweet, innocent and bashful as any character in the series, a witty but believably flawed man who just wanted to do some good in the world and help his new pal Angel on his path to redemption.
As it turned out, Doyle too had some skeletons in his closest, which came into the spotlight in his final episode, as he races to save members of his own people and makes the ultimate sacrifice to save the day. In only nine episodes, Doyle and Quinn formed a brilliant character whose death set the tone of the show and remained a major part of the series until its final days.
He and Quinn may be gone now, and they may not have been around for long, but their impact is tough to beat.
