Arrow: 10 Greatest Episodes
5. The Odyssey (Season 1 Episode 14)
Arrow markets itself on its ability to tell two stories at once, but rarely do the flashbacks hold up to the present day storyline. That’s not true of ‘The Odyssey’, which introduces Felicity to the Arrowcave, but spends most of its time on Lian Yu. It's there that Ollie gets to know his new best friend Slade Wilson, and delivers his only comedic line in over four seasons: "I'm stranded on an island, and my only friend is named Wilson."
It's a tragic friendship that you know is only going to end one way, and Felicity does enough to keep things light-hearted in the present, poking fun at Ollie and Diggle for their pathetic excuses as to what they were up to. But really, the episode is all about Ollie and Slade. The time the show spent building up their relationship in season 1 was ultimately the reason Slade became such a memorable villain, and never is this more aptly showcased than in 'The Odyssey'.
