It has been no secret during the first half of the season that Ray Palmer is gearing up to don the suit of the ATOM. Having bought Queen Consolidated with the sole intent of integrating their OMAC technology into his suit, it will not be long until Ray is staring at a finished suit and not just a hologram. While it is doubtful that Ray will want to join Team Arrow (the team is getting too large as it is), it is quite possible that he will team up with Oliver on occasion (perhaps the finale) in order to take down criminals that an average person cannot. Since the audience has only seen Ray talk and not fight, it is difficult to determine if he will need to undergo training before he debuts (he may be training now offscreen). While Brandon Routh has played a DC hero before, his complete opposite portrayal of Ray Palmer can bring some fun and excitement to a show where the dark hero is usually brooding (or, as is currently, dead).
