Episode: 1x21 – The Undertaking

Combatants: The Hood vs. everybody

What Happened: Team Arrow must investigate underground casino boss Dominic Alonzo, and it falls to card counter extraordinaire Felicity Smoak to infiltrate the illegal gambling den.

While all originally goes to plan as Felicity is caught cheating and able to plant a bug on Alonzo’s computer, Alonzo discovers that Felicity is wearing an earpiece connecting her to her partner…and crushes it, prompting Felicity to opine that he is really going to hate meeting her partner.

The assault on the casino begins with three off-screen gunshots, soon followed by a goon literally punched through a door as the Hood advances. Chips and cards fill the air as bullets and arrows fly and shred through the tables. Oliver pays no mind to the terror of the relatively innocent gamblers as he marches on a path of death and destruction to get to Felicity and Alonzo.

Why It Was Great: Oliver destroying the underground casino was pure, unadulterated Hood. The detached ease with which he transformed the casino into a warzone was mind-blowing in a wonderfully unsettling sort of way.  Oliver's current no-killing stance is admirable, but the Hood 86ing the casino is the sort of action that is missed nowadays.

Winner: Oliver
