Arrow: 4 Ways The Flash's Introduction Is Awesome

2. The Continued Universe Building

Arrow Cur2 As I've discussed before with this season, Arrow has been constantly making allusions to other characters in DC's vast library. 'The Scientist' gave us a few more hints at other characters and where they might fit in to Arrow's future. Ra's al Ghul has, of course, been name dropped several times so far, but this was the first time we've heard someone other than a League member mention his name. The interaction Moria had with one of his men is very interesting and has me curious about whether or not she'll provide any more information to Ra's in the future. As I mentioned previously, the Reverse Flash was hinted at during Barry Allen's story of how his mother was killed, already introducing the fantastic concepts we'll no doubt be seeing in his own show. It also didn't even occur to me until someone had mentioned it that Blood's surviving test subject from the previous episode is a pre-deceased Solomon Grundy. It will be very interesting to see how his characterization will be played out after his transformation. Keen eyes and ears should also be on the lookout for the mention of Kord Industries throughout the episode, a reference I had initially missed until my second viewing. Arrow is moving well toward introducing a variety of concepts from the comics and I can only hope it will make Arrow (and The Flash) a better show.
