If Arrow goes the grounded way of wounded-mercenary turned eco-terrorist, producers couldn't go wrong with Alexis Denisof. Best known for his stellar run on Angel, Denisof would play the ruthless, calculating villain while adding a sympathetic element. In Angel his character, Wesley Wyndham Pryce, frequently made the hard choices necessary for what he saw as the greater good, no matter the moral cost. That is how Ra's sees his plans to destroy the world in order to save it. Denisof could easily step into Liam Neeson's shoes as the good man who's lost his moral compass, but he could also play the immortal warrior prince. Denisof has previous comic book experience, having voiced a number of DC animated characters, and cameoing in the Avengers as Thano's servant.
