Arrow: 6 Things That "Sara" Did Right (And 3 It Didn't)
The Not-So-Good:
3. Quentin In The Dark
Despite the Arrow's use of a voice modulator and the update to a mask over greasepaint, the only reason why Quentin Lance has not figured out the identity of the Oliver-shaped vigilante sporting Oliver-esque stubble with Oliver's friend Felicity as tech support is because Quentin Lance doesn't want to know. He's come to rely on the Arrow's assistance, and his choice to ignore the fairly obvious is in this case easy to accept. There are some things that he is better off not knowing. The fact that his youngest daughter was shot full of arrows and fell off of a roof to her death in an alleyway is not one of them, and that Laurel actively refused to tell him the truth is both morally reprehensible and dramatically irritating. On one hand, it's natural that Laurel would not want to inform her father that he lost Sara for the second time, and his precarious health is a factor worth considering. On the other hand, Quentin's heart is not going to magically heal back to perfection, and he is going to find out about Sara's death sooner or later. The knowledge that Laurel chose to hide it from him and deny him the chance to say goodbye will only make the situation worse. Whether this is to instigate tension between them or to mark Quentin as the next character to die, the decision for Laurel to keep her dad in the dark does a disservice to Laurel's already floundering character and opens the rest of the season up to unnecessary theatrics.
Fiction buff and writer. If it's on Netflix, it's probably in my queue. I've bought DVDs for the special features and usually claim that the book is better than the movie or show (and can provide examples). I've never met a TV show that I won't marathon. Follow on Twitter @lah9891 .
