Arrow Season 3: 10 Comic Book Stories To Adapt

9. Green Arrow - 'The Kill Machine'

When DC launched The New 52 in 2011, some of their titles hit the ground running and coped admirably with the publisher hitting the universe reset button. Other titles didn't fare quite as well as the likes of Batman and Green Lantern, and Green Arrow was one of the unlucky ones. The first year and a half of Green Arrow in The New 52 was very poorly received. Writer's J.T. Krul and Ann Nocenti just couldn't seem to crack the adventures of Oliver Queen and the monthly comic became a bit of a punching bag for critics. Therefore, whenever superstar writer Jeff Lemire (Justice League Dark, Animal Man) took over with #17, he effectively rebooted the reboot (which sounds difficult), keeping everything that had come before but also re-imagining everything in his own vision. He somehow managed to please long-time Green Arrow fans and also newer fans who only know Oliver from the TV show (he introduced the popular TV creation John Diggle into the comics). The Kill Machine features a new villain called Komodo, who knows Oliver's secrets and uses them to rob Ollie of his wealth and his company. Queen goes on the run and has to solve a mystery that goes back to his days marooned on the island and also takes in the mysterious and supernatural Arrow Clan. Komodo has been confirmed as appearing in Arrow season three, and we hope it isn't as a villain of the week, easily dispatched at the end of the episode. We'd rather the producers work in elements from this story, which would make Komodo a formidable on-screen adversary.
