Arrow Season 4: 12 Questions We're Asking After The Mid-Season Finale
10. Why Can't Malcolm Pit The League Against H.I.V.E.?
Malcolm Merlyn enters the fight against Damien Darhk this week, after his daughter Thea is one of those kidnapped during the attack on the Christmas - sorry, holiday - party. However, while he may be Ra's al Ghul, he isn't bringing any of his League of Assassin members (or "ninja friends" as Quentin Lance puts it) along for the ride. Merlyn simply states that he doesn't want to pit the League against H.I.V.E., and leaves it there. Then he goes and dons the Green Arrow suit, and does a fairly solid job of impersonating Oliver. However, the line about the League is an intriguing one, prompting the question as to why he won't have his 'minions' fight those of Damien Darhk. Is it because he thinks the League won't win, or he doesn't want to risk upsetting Darhk in his guise as Ra's? You can never know for certain with Merlyn - see: his saving of Vandal Savage - so there may be some hidden motive he has up his sleeve.
