Arrow Season 4: 7 Ups And 3 Downs From 'Lost In The Flood'

Did Anarky just make himself an A-lister?

With only the season finale to follow it, Lost in the Woods needed to be a big episode for Arrow. Luckily, this latest outing for the Emerald Archer and Co. managed to do a great job at setting up what is hopefully going to be an explosive finale.

As Green Arrow and Spartan embark on a mission to rescue Thea from the clutches of Malcolm Merlyn, it soon becomes clear to the team just how messed up Damien Darhk's plans for the world are.

Of course, still causing chaos amongst Darhk's Truman Show-esque safe haven is Lonnie Machin, Anarky. Intent on hitting Damien where it hurts most, this once C or D-level villain certainly goes all out to make a name for himself, giving absolutely no sh*its in the process.

For the rest of our familiar faces, tensions rise amongst Felicity and her parents when past truths are revealed, and then there's the ever-expanding role of Quentin Lance when it comes to Team Arrow.

Lost in the Flood was the right episode at the right time for Arrow, although that's not to say it was flawless. So, with that said, let's look at what this episode got right and what it struggled with.

The Use Of Lesser Characters

One of the most enjoyable moments of the past few Arrow episodes has been the appearance of some supposed D-level rogues at the side of Damien Darhk.

Whereas we’ve previously seen Murmur as a fixture of Darhk’s posse, this week we also found that Cooper, the once incarcerated ex-boyfriend of Felicity Smoak, is working with Damien in his bid to cleanse the world.

Don’t get me wrong, Murmur and Cooper are both merely low grade fodder used to fill a particularly void, but it’s refreshing to see the show have them hanging around as part of Damien’s crew even if it’s merely to be background players for the most part. It certainly helps in giving a very comic book-esque feel to the series, with the funny books thinking nothing of including C and D-list characters at random points as parts of a greater group.
