Arrow Season 4: 7 Ups And 4 Downs Of 'Monument Point'
3. The Sporadic Appearances Of Donna Smoak
The whole relationship between Donna Smoak and Quentin Lance is definitely something that I’m fine with – both characters play well off each other, and Charlotte Ross and Paul Blackthorne have great chemistry together – but I just wish that Arrow would be more consistent with how it uses the Donna character.
Considering that she and Quentin are supposed to be an item, it seems as if Donna just vanishes for three or four episodes at a time with no passing mention of her, then she pops up out the blue for an episode with no acknowledgement of where she’s been.
It feels as if the character is purely just dropped in when Quentin, or even Felicity, just needs someone to play off of in order to get an emotional plot point over, in this case Lance’s covering up of daughter Laurel being the Black Canary and his troubles at work.
If Donna and Quentin are to remain a ‘thing’ going forward into Season 5 – if they both make it that far – then it’d be nice to see Charlotte Ross a more permanent fixture of the show.
