Arrow Season 4: 12 Big Questions We're Asking After 'Broken Hearts'

10. So, Those Flashbacks?

Well, yeah, they, erm, happened?

The flashbacks this season feel particularly frustrating, because you get the sense that there could actually be an interesting mystery built up around them. It's got a criminal organisation mixed with heavy supernatural elements mixed with action - it's the sort of thing that should work, but it just isn't.

Part of the reason is probably to do with how little we know about what's going on, and the other is simply that the flashbacks we get are so brief - they're quite jarring in this episode, as it quickly fades into them for literally just a minute before leaving them again - that there's no chance to get invested in the story.

As for exactly what is going on, and what that newly discovered totem does - and what Reiter plans on doing with it, and how Oliver and Taiana can get out of this mess - all remains to be seen.
