Arrow Season 7: 3 Ups & 3 Downs From 'Brothers & Sisters'

1. Oliver's Interference In Emiko's Mission

While the episode's title obviously highlighted the fact that it would focus primarily on the sibling relationships in the episode, one of said relationships proved to be the weak link.

Desperate to prove that he could be trusted, Oliver offered his resources to his recently-discovered sister Emiko in an attempt to help her track down the man who murdered her mother. Though uneasy at first, things progressed surprisingly well, with Emiko accepting the help and eventually tracking down the manufacturer of the gun responsible for her mother's death. However, Oliver suddenly decided to take it upon himself to solve the mission for her, citing how she was not an authorised agent of the SCPD and could no longer conduct vigilante missions. Yeah, Oliver because you totally would have listened to that advice when you started your crusade, right?

If that wasn't enough, he then proceeded to steal the target from her, refused to let her interrogate him, officially arrested him on the spot and, to top it all off, he was actually confused for a moment as to why she was outraged at him. Of course, this was all done to force some conflict between the siblings so that everything didn't become too peachy too soon, but it all came off as too contrived.

We're seven seasons in now and Oliver Queen has seen and done it all, so when he begins acting out-of-character just to force an episodic arc, it's incredibly frustrating. While he has been inconsistent on many occasions before, this was actually a scenario in which he had experience, which is why it was completely baffling to see him behave this way and, even more so, expect Emiko to be okay with it.
