Arrow Season 7: 4 Ups & 1 Down From ‘My Name Is Emiko Queen’
Arrow returned with a solid midseason premiere that finally gave us some answers.
Contains spoilers from Arrow Season 7, Episode 10.
Since returning to The CW for its seventh season, Arrow has been nothing short of brilliant. The veteran superhero show returned to its darker roots as protagonist Oliver Queen found himself behind bars in an inescapable Super-Max prison alongside some of his deadliest foes. But thanks to the intervention of his friends (and the surprising assist from a former enemy), the Emerald Archer was released, swapping places with his archnemesis, Ricardo Diaz, who was finally imprisoned. This newfound freedom then resulted in the former vigilante becoming a duly-deputised agent of the SCPD.
Following its Christmas hiatus, the show returned with its midseason premiere this week and gave us a real insight into who the new Green Arrow really was and why she had taken up the hood. At the same time, it teased us with what's yet to come from the remainder of the season - both in the main storyline and the mysterious flash-forward narrative.
Overall, 'My Name Is Emiko Queen' proved to be a serviceable midseason premiere that sidelined its primary narrative in order to give us some much-needed answers, and it was a whole lot of fun in the process.
First, the positives...
